My older brother suggested I take up rowing when I was in Grade 13. I was a track and field athlete in Toronto before we moved to St. Catharines. I took his advice and signed up for rowing at high school. I remember the first early morning at 6 am vividly on Martindale Pond. A few weeks later we went racing. By the end of the year we were the National High School Champions!
